I have joined Save the Rhino International fairly recently. Rhinos are one of the animals chosen for my project.
Save the Rhino International have a very comprehensive website, with very absorbing information about the different rhino breeds. Also a lot of information on current issues, like whether the rhino horn trade could work for rhinos, with the money being ploughed back into rhino conservation, if it was made legal. This has not happened, due partly to the amount of complex factors involved.
From researching this and keeping up with other conservation issues, I have got a feeling for the complexities that conservation and rescues issues pose.
In a recent webinar with Save the Rhino International, the phrase " Conservation is about more than just science", was used. This is very true. Art raises awareness, a key part to be played in earth's continued survival. In my project I am concerned with one of the massive issues , biodiversity loss, which involves habitat loss and socio-economic problems.
