(Documented more fully in Reflective File)

I have been experimenting with different mark making processes and using different clays and glazes.

I like the unexpected texture effect above on the body of the dog

I made the orangutan and Punch by finger drawing in wet slip over earthenware clay. I did this at home. Punch is glazed with my honey glaze. The orangutan is being glazed with Uclan earthenware honey glaze. I look forward to compare the results.

This bowl was thrown and decorated at home. The clay was earthenware with a white slip on. The design was drawn on in underglaze colours, a coat of wax added and then the outline drawn through the wax a bit like sgraffito. A wash of cobalt oxide was applied by brush all over. I then glazed with my lead bisilicate glaze with a blue (cobalt oxide ) lead bisilicate glaze on the outside. I double pour my lead glazes.

This is a bowl decorated by a lady who came for a workshop. I was trying to work smarter!

The cobalt oxide has bled nicely!
